'Chump-like fact free shouting' at Leicestershire County Council as parties clash on grammar schools



County councillors have clashed in a bad tempered debate over Government proposals for a new wave of grammar schools.
There were heated scenes and shouted speeches as Leicestershire's county council's political parties confronted each other over Prime Minister Theresa May's current consultation on the issue.
The majority Tory group and UKIP councillors argued grammar schools would help improve educational standards while their Liberal Democrat and Labour rivals said a return to segregated schooling based on an 11 plus exam was wrong.
