Cash-strapped women are selling ‘survival sex’ for as little as £10, report says



The true extent of the sex industry in parts of Britain may be much larger than thought – due to sex workers offering ‘sex to survive’.
Researchers in County Durham and Darlington working for the Changing Lives’ Girls Are Proud (GAP) project interviewed sex workers in the area.
One woman said she offered full sex for £10 in order to get a ‘fix’ of drugs – and many are struggling to find accommodation.
Another woman said, ‘There’s lots of us, but we all live in a pond. We’re hidden, we’re under stones and rocks.’
