Carlisle man back in prison - less than two days after release
A man released from prison was back behind bars less than 48 hours later – after stealing a trolley load of meat from Marks & Spencer.
Simon Robert Highmore, 26, of Priory Road, off Wigton Road, Carlisle, went into the city centre food hall and stole 19 pieces of beef, worth more than £225.
Carlisle’s magistrates’ court heard how the theft was captured on the shop’s CCTV system. Highmore admitted the offence.
He told Deputy District Judge Vince McDade that he had no money and needed help.
The judge told him custody was the only option as this was a high value theft.
