Carlisle hotel plan given go-ahead to expand

A new hotel building is set to rise on the site of Carlisle’s old Lonsdale Cinema.
Plans for a five storey structure beside The Halston Aparthotel on Warwick Road and linked to the existing building, have been approved by Carlisle City Council.
Owner Simon Harrison was delighted with the news and expects work to start in spring next year.
He said: “This is absolutely superb news.
“On the one hand it is another big project to get on with and you take a gulp, but it also fulfils our plans for the site and it takes Warwick Road and the entrance to the city centre in a good direction.”
