Tracy Grant spent seven months caring for her terminally ill husband Bill.
And it was the best year of her life, she writes in a remarkably frank column for the Washington Post.
Tracy, deputy managing editor for the Post, describes Bill's rapid progression from full fitness to total incapacity after being diagnosed with cancer in 2006.
As it is for all families, it was a devastating and difficult experience.
However, 10 years after his diagnosis, Tracy's overwhelming memory of that journey is of feeling alive, generous, grateful, forgiving, and having a sense of purpose.
