Care home workers battle for up to £24,000 in lost wages over last 10 years
 

CARE home workers have been underpaid as much as £24,000 over the last 10 years, it is claimed.
About 30 staff at Cordia – an arm’s length firm who provide home care services for Glasgow City Council – have been shortchanged by an hour and 15 minutes every week since 2006.
The underpayment followed a contract change a decade ago. But staff had not received money for paid breaks over the years.
Members of the GMB union have rejected a £1600 settlement from the firm and want £4800.
But the payout is to be capped at two years’ missed wages due to new rules set out by the previous coalition... read more
