Campaigners set to lobby councillors over funding cuts to adventure playgrounds



Hundreds of campaigners are expected to flock to Town Hall Square today to lobby councillors against plans to slash funding to Leicester's adventure playgrounds.
Last month council bosses announced proposals to cut funding for the city's 10 adventure playgrounds by 50 per cent – from £1.1 million to £550,000 a year – in a phased reduction up to 2020.
Many of the adventure playgrounds are in the most deprived areas.
Adventure playground staff and parents whose children use them are expected to turn out in force tomorrow from 4.30pm onwards, ahead of a full council meeting tonight.
