Campaign will mark 60th anniversary of Coventry polio epidemic



The 60th anniversary of the Coventry polio outbreak of 1957 will be marked this month as part of a campaign to eradicate the disease.
The One Last Push campaign, which supports global efforts to eradicate polio, will hold an event in the Coventry Transport Museum on September 11.
Around 100 people were infected in what was to be the last significant polio epidemic in the city, just as a vaccine was beginning to become available.
Coventry’s world-class engineers and car manufacturers were instrumental in how polio sufferers were treated.
