Cambuslang high school pupil beats 1,600 athletes to the finish line of Lanarkshire 6K road race
 

A Cambuslang high school pupil staved off tough competition from more than 1,000 fellow athletes to win the annual Lanarkshire Schools 6K Road Race.
Cathkin High’s Drew Pollock beat more than 1,600 pupils and staff across the finish line at Strathclyde Park on September 17.
Thirty-six North and South Lanarkshire secondary schools took part to compete and also raise vital funds for St Andrew’s Hospice.
And while some opted to walk or jog as part of a fun run at the back of the pack, 16-year-old Drew led the entire race from the front to claim his targeted time of 19 minutes 51 seconds.
