Burglar targets Shrewsbury cafes in cash raids
 

Drug addict David Ridgway escaped with nearly £2,000 in cash from the early morning raids, Shrewsbury Crown Court was told.
Mr Richard McConaghy, prosecuting, said Ridgway had £1,000 in cash on him when he was arrested on June 4 in Castle Street, Shrewsbury.
The lion’s share of that – £880 – had been taken hours before his arrest when Ridgway broke into Peaberry in Milk Street.
Mr McConaghy said he broke open the safe and took £500 in notes and £150 in change, before also grabbing £150 from the till and £80 in staff tips.
