Builders dig into basement – and find a buried pub which still has booze
Builders dug into the ground on the site of a proposed development in Manchester – and found a pub, complete with booze.
The ‘lost’ boozer had been buried for 200 years – but had untouched bottles of booze and
personalised crockery containing the former landlord’s name.
Some of the bottles even contained brandy.
The find came during work to prepare for the building of a 13-storey skyscraper on the corner of Port Street and Great Ancoats Street.
