Budget airline easyJet sees profits drop as a year of 'unprecedented external events' take their toll 



Budget airline easyJet  today saw a big profits drop after a year of 'unprecedented external events', but its shares still rose with the weak numbers in line with guidance
The FTSE 100-listed firm's pretax profits fell by 27.9 per cent to £495million for the full year to September 30, in first annual fall for six years, as its total sales dipped 0.4 per cent to £4.67billion.
The airline said: 'Disruption due to air traffic and other strikes in Europe, as well as severe weather and runway closures at Gatwick airport, has severely impacted easyJet’s performance during the year.'
