Wednesday’s Budget brought big promises for the Tyne and Wear Metro service, and promised a cash boost for the NHS.
But while teachers in the North East have been demanding more money for their schools for months, there was no extra cash offered for core school budgets.
Regional schools organisation Schools North East has condemned Chancellor Philip Hammond for offering just “small-scale initiatives” to help struggling schools.
