Brendan Rodgers has been mentioned in dispatches as a possible long-term successor to Sam Allardyce and he didn't do his reputation any harm at all by going toe-to-toe against arguably the current best manager in the world, Pep Guardiola.
Sometimes Rodgers doesn't help himself with his flashing white teeth and glib soundbites. But he knows how to coach and improve players, and he doesn't show fear.
