Bootle newsagents robbed by man 'carrying a handgun'
 

A Bootle off-licence was robbed by a man believed to be carrying a handgun.
Police are appealing for information following the robbery at S&N News and General store on Knowsley Road at 6pm this evening.
The robber is believed to have hit the shopkeeper over the head with the handgun before emptying the till and escaping with a quantity of cash.
He made off towards the park by Peel Road. Officers carried out an extensive search of the area but were unable to trace him.
