Boost for Newcastle Airport in Heathrow expansion plan after loss of New York flights
 

A long-awaited decision on expanding airport capacity in the south will include plans to improve links from regional airports such as Newcastle, Transport Secretary Chris Grayling was revealed.
Speaking to the Chronicle at the Conservative conference in Birmingham, he said he regretted Newcastle Airport’s loss of United Airlines services to the US.
But improving connectivity between regional airports and the larger airports in the south might “counterbalance” this, he said.
