Birmingham and Black Country pupils outperformed the national average at GCSEs this year – and the city boasts some of the top schools in the country.
New figures reveal 59.5 per cent of pupils in the city got at least a C grade in English and maths.
That compared to a national average of 58.7 per cent.
Four of the King Edward VI schools, Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls and Wolverhampton Girls’ High School achieved some of the best results in England.
