Birmingham Airport fined £100,000 after boy, 6, was crushed on luggage belt
 

An airport has been fined £100,000 after a six-year-old boy was injured after getting trapped on a luggage belt.
The boy, who has not been named, was kept in hospital for three days after being crushed at Birmingham Airport on September 4 last year.
He was with his dad and partner in the baggage reclaim area when he climbed into a mesh cage on the over-size baggage belt.
The conveyor started moving and his legs got trapped in the gap between the belt and a flatbed of rollers.
He had been freed by the time emergency services arrived and is not said to have suffered long-term injuries.... read more
