Biker and passenger airlifted to hospital after serious South Shields crash



A biker and passenger have been flown to hospital after colliding with a car near Marsden Grotto.
Police, paramedics and two fire engines were called to the scene on the A183 Coast Road in South Shields just before 3pm on Wednesday.
A silver Nissan car and a motorbike carrying two people crashed, leaving both bike riders seriously injured.
The North East Ambulance Service requested two air ambulances after paramedics arrived at the scene.
Both casualties were then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Their conditions were described by Northumbria Police as “serious”.
