Battery bank plan for Wirral to 'keep the lights on'

A new bank of “batteries” to be installed at Birkenhead would “keep the lights on” in case of power shortages.
Plans for a new power bank have been submitted to Wirral council and could be the first of a series of similar installations across Merseyside to head off the risk of blackouts.
If approved by Wirral council, the proposals by UK Energy Reserve Limited would see the electricity battery storage facility based on land north of Beaufort Road, Cavendish Wharf, Birkenhead.
