Barrow-born professor to receive lifetime achievement award at CN Group Golden Apples Awards



Barrow-born Professor Peter Strike will receive the accolade at the CN Group Golden Apples Awards for 2016.
His life in the world of academia ended last year when, after five years in the position of vice-chancellor at Cumbria University, he hung up his cap and gown and retired.
Mr Strike will be among a number of heroes from the county's education, training and skills sectors to be recognised.
Among the finalists are a number from south Cumbria.
