Bairstow helps England avoid follow-on but India extend Second Test lead

England mounted a spirited fight back after ending the second day on 103 for five in their first innings.
They were whittled out for 255 - exactly 20 behind India - as Jonny Barstow mounted a credible return until James Anderson was taken lbw for nought.
In reply, India added to their 455 first-inning knock with 98 runs before the close of play.
But Stuart Broad ensured the visitors retain some hope of salvaging the Test with the wickets of Murali Vijay and KL Rahul, while Anderson bowled Cheteshwar Pujara for one.
