Bail hostel killer had just been released from previous life sentence for Leicester attack

At the time that Martin McDermott viciously attacked and killed Leslie Salmon in Derby he had only been released weeks before from a previous life sentence.
The 60-year-old had served more than 16 years of that term which was imposed in 2001 when he committed offences in Leicester.
That saw him seriously injure a woman when he stabbed her and then he held two other women hostage during a police siege.
And that happened while he was on bail for stabbing a man in a separate incident in Derby.
