BAE submarine engine maker has profit boost



The aircraft engine giant - which manufactures the power units for submarines built in Barrow - booked a pre-tax profit of £1.94bn for the six months ending in June, up from a £2.15bn loss over the same period last year.
Revenues climbed 12 per cent to £7.57bn, as the FTSE 100 firm cheered a 27 per cent rise in large engine deliveries in the civil aerospace sector.
