Australia: Last Aussie Ford car and 600 jobs roll off the line



FORD rolled out its last-ever Australian-made car yesterday, sounding the death knell for 600 jobs after 91 years of production.
The last of 3.5 million Ford Falcon XR6s — famous as the basis of Mad Max’s wheels in the post-apocalyptic film franchise — left the Broadmeadows plant in Melbourne for the Ford Australia museum.
General Motors and Toyota have also announced they will also close their Australian factories next year.
The Australian Council of Trade Unions (Actu) slammed Liberal PM Malcolm Turnbull’s government’s “failure to manage structural adjustment in the economy.”
