Attacker who assaulted paramedic in Derby spared immediate jail term
 

A 23-year-old man who attacked a paramedic in a Derby street has been spared an immediate jail term.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court heard how Steven McVarrie, assaulted the medic who went to his aid in Stockbrook Street.
The hearing was told that the paramedic had gone to Stockbrook Street after a 999 call had been received shortly after 5.30pm saying that a man was lying in the road.
When the paramedic began treating McVarrie, he "turned aggressive" and attacked the man. Police arrived and he also turned violent on them too.
