Aston Villa transfer news: Rivals make their move for Tommy Elphick



Aston Villa are in talks with Championship rivals Sunderland over a loan move for Tommy Elphick.
The Black Cats, along with Birmingham City and Leeds United, have been keen to sign Elphick all summer and are looking to seal the deal in the final hours of the transfer window.
Elphick, 29, joined Villa for £3million from Bournemouth last summer to become the first signing of the Dr Tony Xia era, but he lost his place in the team in October and manager Steve Bruce shifted the captaincy to James Chester in December.
