Aston Villa appoint former boss of arch rivals Birmingham as their new manager as Steve Bruce succeeds Roberto Di Matteo

Steve Bruce has been appointed as the new manager of Aston Villa.
The 55-year-old, who spent six years in charge of the Championship club's fierce rivals Birmingham, succeeds Roberto Di Matteo in the role at Villa Park.
Bruce has signed a five-year contract and takes over a squad which has endured a meek start to life in the second tier after relegation from the Premier League last term.
