Arsonist caused huge damage by setting 'large and ferocious' fire in his terraced home
 

An arsonist who caused huge damage by setting a “large and ferocious” fire in the bedroom of his terraced home has been jailed for three years.
Calvin Parkinson used junk mail and pieces of wood to torch his bedroom and also set fire to a bag of rubbish in the kitchen after removing his smoke alarm.
No-one was hurt but a judge warned Parkinson that fire spreads quickly and he risked causing serious harm.
Now the 27-year-old, who admitted arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered, has been locked up at Newcastle Crown Court.
