Arson investigation launched after Fisherman's Lodge restaurant destroyed by fire



A fire which ravaged the former home of one of Newcastle’s most popular restaurants is now being investigated as a potential arson.
Firefighters with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene of a blaze at the former site of the Fishermen’s Lodge in Jesmond Dene on Sunday night.
The restaurant, which served speciality seafood dishes and was once considered one of the best in the North East, endured several troubled years before finally closing its doors in 2013.
