Arsene Wenger held meeting with Manchester United over succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson
 

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger held talks with Manchester United over becoming manager at Old Trafford back in 2002, the club’s former chairman Martin Edwards has revealed.
Sir Alex Ferguson planned to step down from the position midway through the 2001/02 campaign but changed his mind and remained with the Red Devils until 2013.
However, with the iconic Scot considering leaving United, the club were forced to look at possible replacements and Wenger was approached over the role.
