Around 500 savers a day snap up Skipton Building Society's lifetime Isa despite lowly 0.5% rate



Around 28,000 savers have opened the first cash lifetime Isa launched at the start of June by Skipton, the building society has revealed today.
Its lifetime Isa comes with a 0.5 per cent rate but is boosted heavily by a government bonus of up to £1,000 a year, if the maximum £4,000 flows into the account.
Skipton has no competition in the cash lifetime Isa 'market', while three providers have launched investment options.
Skipton says 51 per cent who've opened an account are under the age of 30 – while six per cent are at the upper threshold of 39.
