Another sop to big business



TORY governments rarely allow anything to obstruct big business profits, so Communities Secretary Sajid Javid’s green light for Cuadrilla’s fracking trial comes as no surprise.
Giving the go-ahead to extraction of gas at Little Plumpton by horizontal drilling through layers of shale rock rides roughshod over local people’s wishes.
They have taken their complaints to three levels of local democracy, culminating in persuading Lancashire County Council to back their objections, only to have their view and that of their locally elected representatives quashed by diktat from Westminster.... read more
