Anglesey councillors overwhelmingly oppose parliamentary merger with Gwynedd
 

Anglesey should not have to share an MP with Gwynedd.
That is the overwhelming response from the island’s councillors to the Boundary Commission’s proposal to merge the Ynys Mon and Arfon parliamentary constituencies.
Under proposals revealed earlier this year, Wales is set to see the number of MPs slashed from 40 to 29, as the UK government looks to cut House of Commons members from 650 to 600.
There has been a distinct Ynys Mon seat since 1536 and its proposed loss infuriated some councillors during a full council meeting in Llangefni this morning.
