Anger over plan to turn former museum into shops

Traders are furious about plans to convert a former museum into an indoor shopping area.
They fear the scheme will reduce trade and could force some established shops out of business.
Allerdale council is planning to take over The Cars of the Stars building in Standish Street and convert it into 20 retail units.
Maggie Lambert, who owns the Present Moment gift shop in the town, raised the issue with the town council.
She said: “I had heard there were plans for the building to be converted into a shopping area.
“The last thing Keswick needs is 20 more shops.”
