Andy Murray closes in on world No 1 rank after adding China Open and Shanghai Rolex Masters to trophy haul
Andy Murray arrived in China a fortnight ago with no great expectations, having spent little time on the practice court during his two-week break after Great Britain’s Davis Cup semi-final defeat by Argentina.
But Murray leaves the Far East with trophies from the China Open and Shanghai Rolex Masters in his luggage, having won all of the 20 sets he played here. Remarkably, he has given himself a chance of becoming world No 1 in three weeks.
Judging by the last four months, there is no doubt Murray is the best player in the world.
