The Serb had won his opening rubber to kick off the Barclays ATP World Tour finals, a victory that all-but-halved the 405-point deficit between first and second place.
But Murray responded by getting the first 200 points, out of a potential maximum of 1,500 for winning the tournament, safely in the bag without really needing to produce his best tennis for a packed crowd at the O2 Arena.
