Andy Murray lost a tight first set 11-9 in a tie-break but immediately broke his Japanese opponent in the second set before serving it out to level the match.
The newly crowned world No 1 then romped through the deciding set to clinch the match a seal a spot in the semi-finals with his third group-stage win - his 21st consecutive victory.
