Andrew Strauss claims day-night trial can 'breathe new life' into Test format
Andrew Strauss believes the first day-night Test in England next August can breathe fresh life into the format.
The England and Wales Cricket Board last night unveiled plans to trial a floodlit Test using a pink ball at Edgbaston in their series opener against the West Indies from August 17-21.
ECB chief executive Tom Harrison admitted that the five-day format is no longer thriving outside London and he hopes this new initiative, pioneered by Australia to massive acclaim last November, will encourage younger fans to attend or watch on television.
