Abusive husband David Bird suspended from Hull council domestic violence helpline job



A man who left his wife "black and blue" has been suspended from his council job answering phones to domestic abuse victims.
Hull City Council today revealed David Bird, 55, has been suspended following criticism of their actions by Hull MP Diana Johnson and domestic abuse charity Women's Aid.
Bird, of Longden Street, west Hull, went on a drunken rampage when his wife spoke to him while he was watching a match in this summer's European Championship.
