Abbeygate traders claim roadworks 'are affecting business'

INDEPENDENT traders in Grimsby claim roadworks in the town centre have damaged business.
Shopkeepers in Abbeygate say both trade and footfall has dropped dramatically over recent weeks because of the footway works on Bethlehem Street outside.
The works were carried out as part of a £1.5 million accessibility improvement scheme to link up the town centre with other areas of Grimsby.
But Mark Callanan, 37, owner of Abbeygate's traditional sweet shop Sweet Temptations, said the fall in trade has left him wondering whether the business will survive the winter.
