A19 Crash - what happened this morning on the road between Sunderland and Middlesbrough?
 

What has happened? There has been a four-vehicle crash on the A19, just after 7.30 this morning.
The A19 southbound was shut for a time and huge tailbacks developed.
Where was the crash? The crash happened on the A19 southbound, at the B1285 turning.
The road is shut, causing congestion on A19 to A690 Durham Road / B1286 City Way (Herrington Interchange).
Police are directing motorists, but it is affecting traffic from Sunderland towards Middlesborough.
Traffic is also slow on the opposite side due to people ogling at the crash.
