A nation of reluctant renters? UK has the biggest 'happiness gap' in Europe between home owners and those who rent



Rising rents and unsecure tenancies have left households in Britain with the biggest 'happiness gap' between home owners and renters compared to the rest of Europe, a new survey suggests.
Home owners are generally happier than renters, but in the UK the divide is the most marked. Fewer than half UK renters are happy with their situation compared with 80 per cent of homeowners, according to an online survey by insurer ING.
In the rest of Europe, a bigger percentage of renters – 57 per cent – are happy with their situation, while some 77 per cent of homeowners can say the same.
