Stan Newens and David Morgan write on the life of TONY ATIENZA – 1921 to 2017
A FORMER head teacher of Latton Bush Comprehensive School, Harlow, Anthony David Atienza died on September 14 in a care home at Bury St Edmunds aged 95 years.
Born on October 2 1921, the son of a Spanish bank clerk whose ancestors had been Spanish army officers, he gained a place at King’s College London to study for a degree in history in 1938.
He was, however, called up before completing the course and served in the RAF on radar stations in Iraq for five years during the second world war.
