£2m payout for Boak Building owner four years after devastating blaze



Listed former leather factory, the Boak Building, in Station Street, was demolished after a fire ripped through the building in July 2012.
The landmark site is owned by local businessman Pal Singh who had planned to turn the former factory into dozens of flats before the arson attack.
After the blaze he said he wanted to restore the building and stick to his development plan of building the 31 flats, which he had received planning permission for in 2009.
